Booking your first class and taking out a Membership with the club are done concurrently.

 

If you have welcomed a new puppy, or an older dog, into your family and need some basic training then please enrol in our Puppies Class (less than 6 months old), or alternatively a Beginners Class, and at the same time complete your Membership application.

Classes are held on Sundays throughout the year at The Domain Crossroads Oval.

 

Please note, to attend any class you must register and pay online via a link supplied on this website (for Puppies and Beginners) or a link supplied to you by your instructor for all other classes.

All classes are offered at levels from beginners through to trialing standard.

If you are unable to book a class due to space constraints we are able to recommend some private trainers so please make contact with us.

The Club's training philosophy is based solely on the use of positive reinforcement training techniques and we do not use or support any adversive training methods or equipment, including, but not limited to, the use of E Collars, Slip Chains or Prong Collars.

                     

BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR A CLASS WITH US...SOME VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION 

The Hobart Canine Obedience Club offers basic dog training and dog sports to the community and may be unsuitable for dogs displaying anxious or reactive behaviours.

Please note that basic obedience training and behaviour modification are not the same thing.

Our instructors are not equipped to deal with behavioural issues in a group class setting and the club atmosphere is not suitable for these dogs or their handlers to resolve these problems.

If you are unsure as to whether your dog is suitable for group classes, please use the “Contact Us” button on our website so we can assist you further. 

We can, if necessary, recommend some excellent private trainers who could help you deal with these behavioural issues and guide you to when joining a group class would be suitable.
